Work clean work smart. Have all of the items you need ready to go. Before you start this clean your work area, this includes floors bench’s . Dust and dirt are your enemy so keep this in mind.All cylinders have been coated with a very light oil to protect and prevent rust. This film will need to be removed before using them. You will need to have a relatively firm bristled plastic brush. Brush with hot soapy water until clean. Rinse out the cylinders and dry completely.Oil the inside of the cylinders with a white paper towel. If the towel is dirty after wiping, your cylinders are not clean enough. Brush again with hot soapy water. Continue in this fashion until towel remains clean when oiling cylinder. Failure to properly clean cylinder can result in damage to piston, cylinder, rings and other engine components.
In all cases it is the engine builder’s responsibility to confirm proper clearances when assembling an engine. This is especially critical with performance components such as larger valve, high performance heads and high lift camshafts.
Use of a quality assembly lube such as Torco is recommend. Breaking in your motor is vital to the life of your engine.
Start up engine and allow the engine to warm up for 3 to 4 minutes. Do not crack the throttle or subject the engine to any type of load. Shut down the engine and allow to cool. Repeat this procedure at least 3 more times.
Having a engine tuned right away is the best way to ensure that your new kit will not be damaged. The dyno operator can monitor what AFR is and engine temp. We break in and tune all of our new engines on the dyno There are many methods , your tuner can explain those to you .
High performance parts & engine combo’s and are not as tolerant of inadequate break-in. Correct break-in is crucial to engine life and will prevent unnecessary engine damage. Engine damage caused by improper break-in is not covered. Proper engine tuning will be required in order for your engine to run correctly and to prevent damage. Carbureted engines must be rejetted, and a larger carburetor is recommended. EFI calibration can be changed.
